He was well-known and well-liked among Ohio State and Michigan fans on social media and many paid tribute to him after the news of his death broke.
'RIP Tom the #9 trending topic in the entire country right now,' one fan posted. 'I hope Tom Adelsberg’s family sees that and understands how well thought of he was by so many people, even strangers who only knew him from Twitter.'
'We lost a genuinely good person yesterday,' another added. 'Tom was always a bright light on a dark app. RIP Tom Adelsberg.'
One fan account said it had been lucky to have known Adelsberg as it wrote: 'We are saddened to hear the news of Tom’s passing. A few of us at 1870 were lucky to have known Tom over the years, and one thing was certain - he loved our University Buckeye Nation, please keep the Adelsberg family in your prayers.'
'Terrible news. Heart breaking for the Adelsberg family - Tom was a great guy and I'd have loved to have had a beer with the man and just chopped it up,' one fan shared.
It wasn't just the Ohio State fans honoring Adelsberg's memory either as Michigan supporters put their rivalry to one side to pay tribute.
One in particular shared a lengthy statement, writing: 'If you knew Tom Adelsberg on here, you had the pleasure of seeing one of the nicest guys with the greatest sense of humor and biggest heart. He proved you could be rivals and yet have fun engaging with others & keep it in bounds.

He was known and well-liked among Ohio State fans on social media and many paid tribute
'Some of you saw my photoshops of him in Michigan gear and it made him laugh so much - and just rolled with it. He hoped it would make those on both sides of Michigan and Ohio State have a laugh also. He would even invite it when posting his real life photos.
'I never met him in person but we had planned to meet for drinks when he would be in my area. I'm sad that will never happen.
'He shared with me how much a fan of mine he was but I would tell him I was a much bigger fan of him. I'm going to honor his spirit by continuing doing what I do on here which is to give those of us who follow sports have a laugh and keep it respectful. Life is too precious and too short to be nasty and unkind to people on here. I will miss my guy Tom so much. Rest in peace brother. Go Bucks and Go Blue.'
Another made it clear that Adelsberg's death superseded the collegiate rivalry as they shared their own tribute.

Michigan supporters also put their rivalry to one side to honor Adelsberg on social media
'RIP Tom Adelsberg,' they began. 'A True Buckeye Fan Legend, a Loving Father and Husband and My Friend. You’ll be missed by all the lives you’ve touched on here. Whether it be GoBucks or GoBlue, Tom was twitter family. Thoughts and Prayers to your Family and Friends.'
Meanwhile, another claimed they had been grieving college football's loss of Jim Harbaugh to the NFL when the news of Adelsberg's death broke.
'I thought I was grieving Harbaugh to the NFL last night, but hearing about the loss of Tom Adelsberg snapped me back to reality,' they said.
'I never met @ShhhTAdelsberg, but I wish I would have. His kind, vibrant personality shone through in what he chose to share with us. A GOAT Buckeye.'
